Cucur ikan bilis or cengkodok ikan bilis is a spicy, crispy fritters that i love dearly. My mom used to fry this those days for tea break . Since its the easiest snack which can be prepared within 1/2 an hour. Almost everyone would have taste it and knows how to do it with their own way of doing it. All time favorite for Malaysians.
Ingredients :
2 cups of flour
1 egg
6 nos dry chilies
3/4 cup anchovies (ikan bilis)
1 tsp cumin powder
2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp dry prawns
1 1/2 cup hot water
Preparation Method :
- Blend 3 nos dry chillies, dry prawns, and 1 tbsp of anchovies in dry blender.
- Slice remaining dry chillies thinly.
- Mix flour with baking powder, salt, sliced dry chillies, all the spice powders, egg and remaining anchovies.
- Add hot water and mix to form batter.
- Mix the blended anchovies to the batter.
- Mix well.
- Deep fry in hot oil.
- Serve with chili sauce of your favorite.
Note : Here in this recipe I omit onions, because my hubby doesn’t prefer it. Its up to you if you wanted to add them.
